Going to GARF!

I could not be more excited to be back in the archives!! Here in Moscow, I’m working in an archive called GARF (the acronym translates to ‘State Archive of the Russian Federation’). It is incomprehensibly large, and the main campus of buildings takes about 20 minutes to walk all the way around... I would know, because I got lost looking for the main entrance 😬. It is a super modern crazy busy archive compared to the one in Irkutsk (all the forms are digital!) but also a lot more strict and formal it seems. I have already received documents, which was a fairly painless process here and I ordered a TON to look at in the short period that I’m here. While it certainly makes me cut back on my picture-taking and tourism, I am beyond excited to be back to working with the archival material that brought me here.
