I wanted to take this post today to spotlight where I am living. I am staying with a host family that I found off of Airbnb. They are a pensioner couple who have lived in Irkutsk for their whole lives and been hosting people in their home for almost 30 years. As such, I am not the only guest in this shared, very soviet apartment. Here are some of the highlights! 1. Their dog, who is very cute but still incredibly shy, and will really only come around when I’m eating meals in the kitchen. 2. This space is set up in the stairwell outside their apartment. Being on the fifth floor of the complex, it receives a nice breeze and through the window has a great view of outdoors. 3. Other parts of the stairwell, which are certainly less dressed up. 4. A partial view of the kitchen where I eat breakfast every morning. My room is located directly off of the kitchen.
